"I'll Only Love You More", alternatively "A Secret Message", is a song in Death Note: The Musical.

Overview[]

During the previous song "Stalemate," Misa sang that she was composing a song to get a secret message to Kira. "I'll Only Love You More" is that song, which she begins recording after L and Light's Todai entrance ceremony. Around the same time, Misa sends videotapes to a television station with another message to Kira so that they can meet each other, which Light sees on television. Sayu then shares Misa's released song with Light. Since Light gets her messages, he and Misa are able to meet.

Although Rem does not sing or speak during the song, in the production, her growing feelings for Misa are portrayed onstage. At one point as Misa sings for Kira, Rem almost tries to embrace her; oblivious to this, Misa symbolically steps away from the embrace as she continues singing.

The studio recordings of the English and Korean songs feature only vocals for Misa. But in the Japanese and Korean productions, Sayu sings along with Misa for a couple lines when she shares the song with Light. The productions also include dialogue during the song between Misa's verses, spoken by Light, Sayu, and two newscasters.

English version[]

The song was originally written in English. The original English title of the song is "I'll Only Love You More".[1][2]

The English demo was recorded in December 2014 and released online in 2015 by HoriPro as part of the advertisement for the Musical's Tokyo production. Below are the lyrics for the original English version.

English lyrics

You wake me
You take me
Remake me
More than anyone

I'll show you
I know you
I owe you
More than anyone

You rescued me
From all my tears
I'd gladly give you
Half my years

I'll pay any price for
Finding you
And spend what's left
Reminding you
My restless life is worth
So much more
Because of you
Worth living for
If I find you
Maybe love me too
I'll only love you more

I'm here now
It's clear now
You're near now
Please, please don't run away

I feel you
So will you
Reveal you
Don't wanna run away

I'll read your name
And see your face
A kiss away
From your embrace

I'll pay any price for
Finding you
And spend what's left
Reminding you
My restless life is worth
So much more
Because of you
Worth living for
If I find you
Maybe love me too
I'll only love you more

My golden temple by the sea
You are my kamakura tree

I'll pay any price for
Finding you
And spend what's left
Reminding you
My restless life is worth
So much more
Because of you
Worth living for
If I find you
Maybe love me too
I'll only love you more

I'm here now
It's clear now
You're near now
