  • Hey Murali, please do not replace images with completely different images. Here's what I mean, just from what I've noticed today: File:NPA.jpg, File:Watari.png, File:Sayu.png, File:Death Note film- Misa at Light's house.jpg.

If you would like a completely different image to be used on a page, please upload the new image and edit the page instead.

A higher resolution isn't the only factor when it comes to which version of an image should be used. I recall one Rem image where it was an improved resolution but it was in the middle of a motion, so part of the image (the wings I think) were blurred by the motion. I reverted that because although the previous image was a lower resolution, the image of Rem was clearer because it wasn't blurred. The higher resolution wasn't an improvement.

When the images are slightly smaller, I understand that. But when some images are so tiny you wouldn't be able to see anything of detail anyways, is a bigger image not considered an improvement?

And yes, I try to replicate the image perfectly. But even as I went frame through frame, every still had the blur to the wings since Rem was flapping those constantly. So I chose the one most closely resembling the original image.

    • In the case of the original Rem image in this example, File:RemLiveAction.jpg, image size wasn't a problem. The original image is 900 × 507, which is certainly adequate. The purpose of the image is to show Rem's form in the film, so the clarity of Rem's form is more important than resolution.

I understand the frustration of trying to catch the perfect frame for a screenshot. Sometimes it just doesn't work out though. It turns out that this image is a promotional image for the blu-ray release, so I'm not surprised that it couldn't be reproduced with a screenshot. Promo images tend to be clearer like that. A screenshot just isn't going to be able to replace it.

It should be clear now that replacing existing images with completely different images is unacceptable. These were all again replaced by you today and should not have been:

This should not continue to happen. I will revert them back to their original images once again. Do not continue to revert them or any others. If you have different images you would like to add to pages, please add them as new files.

  • I noticed you editing the format of infoboxes in source mode. Leaving this here in case you didn't see it.
